A Bit About Me

Welcome to Dreaming Tree Counseling! I’m B Towns (she/her), the co-founder of Dreaming Tree Counseling. With over ten years of experience in the field, I specialize in working with adults navigating complex trauma, attachment wounds, and dissociation. My work is deeply rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that honors all parts of you and supports healing from the inside out.

In addition to my clinical work, I provide supervision and consultation for therapists who are training in IFS, treating complex trauma, or working toward licensure. Supporting other clinicians in their professional and personal growth is one of my greatest passions, and I am committed to fostering a community of trauma-informed, compassionate providers.

My approach is relational, collaborative, and strengths-based. I value creating a safe, supportive space where clients and clinicians alike feel seen, empowered, and encouraged on their journey toward healing and authenticity.

Dreaming Tree Counseling

Throughout my career as a therapist, I have worked intimately with the Family Court system, Community Mental Health (including on-call crisis intervention), rural school systems in low-income communities, and private practice.

Regardless of the setting I was working in, unresolved trauma kept proving to be the source of the pain and suffering I was seeing in my clients day to day. I quickly learned that it is not enough to treat the symptoms clearly seen on the surface when the body and mind do not feel a sense of safety and/or belonging. I felt that my clients deserved more - an opportunity for the kind of deep healing that brings true transformation. So, that is what I set out to do.

I have since gone on to pursue specialized training in various trauma treatment modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Ego-State therapy, mindfulness, and somatic body work.
