A Bit About Me

Welcome to Dreaming Tree Counseling! My name is Katherine (Kat) (She/Her) and I am so glad you are here! Brene Brown once said, “Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.” Our experiences in life can sometimes leave us feeling sad, angry, confused, lost, and everything in between. Whether you are struggling with experiences of trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, family/relationship conflicts, or school difficulties, I am here to walk alongside you on a path towards vulnerability and self-compassion for all parts of you.

I am passionate about working through a trauma-informed lens to uncover how these experiences can impact our mind and body. Through treatment interventions such as EMDR, somatic body work, and mindfulness, we will work together to create an environment that makes space for healing, empowerment, and building skills to help cope with daily life. Instead of being who you have had to be (because trauma), this journey can bring you to who you are meant to be.

Work Experience

Parkside Family Counseling - Outpatient Therapist Intern

Dreaming Tree Counseling - Outpatient Therapist

Adrian College - Lecturer

I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2022 and first began seeing clients for therapy in 2021.

I have since been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), and am IFS informed. I am committed to expanding my knowledge and skill set to offer my clients the most effective treatment modalities available.

The importance of the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of our work. You are the expert of your own experiences. I strive to meet you with empathy, authenticity, and a touch of humor - and together we will find out what approach works best for you.

Thank you again for taking this courageous step on your healing journey - I would be honored to walk with you!
