A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Phoebe Carmichael (she/her), LLMSW, and I believe healing happens in relationships --with ourselves and with the people we love. Whether you’re coming to therapy individually or as a partnership, my goal is to create a warm, compassionate space where every part of you feels welcome.

I specialize in working with couples who find themselves caught in the same painful arguments, emotional disconnection, or pursue-withdraw cycles, especially when one or both partners have experienced trauma. Often, these conflicts aren’t about the dishes or communication alone. They’re about protective parts stepping in, old wounds being activated, and each person struggling to feel safe, understood, and connected.

Using an attachment-focused, trauma-informed approach that draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic awareness, I help couples recognize the patterns keeping them stuck, understand what each partner’s protective parts are trying to accomplish, and build new ways of responding that create greater safety, intimacy, and trust.

I also enjoy working with individuals navigating complex trauma, dissociation, identity development, LGBTQ2+ experiences, life transitions, and relationship concerns. I am passionate about creating an affirming space where clients can reconnect with themselves while developing healthier, more secure relationships with others.

I have a growing specialization in dissociation and complex trauma, including working with individuals experiencing DID and other complex dissociative experiences. My ongoing training in both EFT and trauma treatment allows me to integrate evidence-based approaches with curiosity, compassion, and respect for each person’s unique story.

Whether we’re helping you heal from past experiences, strengthen your relationship, or better understand the parts of yourself that have helped you survive, we’ll work together toward a life that feels more connected, grounded, and authentic.

Work Experience

Nemeth Counseling and Consultation -
Intake Specialist

LifeStance Health -
Regional Operations Manager

LifeStance Health - Intern

Dreaming Tree Counseling - Clinical Therapist

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in client care coordination and practice leadership roles within mental health settings, where I supported individuals at the very beginning of their therapy journeys. These experiences deepened my understanding of how important it is to feel welcomed, safe, and genuinely understood when seeking support.

Today, I bring the same warmth and relational care into my clinical work. My approach is trauma-centered, collaborative, and rooted in curiosity and compassion. I have a strong interest in woking with complex trauma, dissociation, identity development, attachment wounds, and relational concerns.

I am passionate about ongoing learning and continue to deepen my understanding of complex trauma and dissociative experiences in order to provide thoughtful, ethical, and attuned care. I am presently pursuing further training in Internal Family Systems for couples and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
